Sturmgewitter Ziehn Durchs Land (with Days of the Trumpet Call, Von Thronstahl, Dead Mans Hill)
This split cd meant as remembrance to the first Carpe Noctem festival would have been released by a small Belgian label, which unfortunately fucked up everything they could fuck up so this release ended up being released by anther Belgian organisation, Carpe Noctem.
H.E.R.R. is represented on this collaboration of martial / neo-classical artists with three strong tracks, inspired by the roaring history of the city of Constantinople. ‘Constantinople I: Hagya Sophia, Requiem for Constantinople and Tanz Konstantinopel. Released on ‘The Winter of Constantinople’ by Cynfeirdd. Personally, i am very charmed by the music of H.E.R.R. and notice they have progressed immensely since their debut recordings. These three pieces of music are again of a strong classical character and could simply be labeled as beautiful. H.E.R.R. brings musicality in this scene which is not yet seen before and with this places themselves right at the top.
The Days of the Trumpet Call is an already familiar side project of Von Thronstahl members Marcel P. and Raymond P. On this release we find new material. ‘Honour (den Gefallenen), which is a martial classical piece with guitar, is a tribute to all those who have sacrificed their lives for higher values and was partially recorded over 2004. The somewhat similar ‘Satan’s Trick’ was known from live performances for some time and now you find the studio version as well.
Dead Man’s Hill is a Belgian death industrial project that combines influences of The Moon lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud and In Slaughter Natives to cold atmospheres and dark aggressive blackmetal influences and with this creates pieces of an occult character, enhanced even more by the lyrics inspired upon Haitian voodoo cults. The tracks on this cd are ‘Wormer’, ‘Vesterbro’ and ‘The Black Ghost-Dog’.
Von Thronstahl is one of the flag carriers of this genre of music. On this record we find two reworkings of familiar songs of this band. ‘Wieder Die Masse’ and ‘Bellum Sacrum Bellum’ which has gotten a Krieg & Wahrheit treatment fully focussed on the international consequences of the military-industrial influence through a not so democratic US governement.
